Aloha! Day 5

Day 5: Stadium Swap Meet, Pearl Harbor, Dinner, and China Town

There is a great swap meet at Aloha Stadium on the weekend. I highly suggest going if you visit Oahu! We bought a few fun things for super cheap. It was fun shopping in that kind of environment!

Next stop... Pearl Harbor.

We toured the facilities on land then took a boat out to the USS Arizona.

It was a very touching experience. Watching the videos and listening to the story of those brave young men that survived tell their story made me feel for them. It must have been a scary experience- one that hasn't left their memory I am sure. It made me appreciate the technology we have today. What better way to learn more of history than actually visit the sites themselves. I loved this day!

It was amazing to me that after all these years, oil was still seeping out of the top of the USS Arizona. It serves as an underwater grave for many of the men and women that borded it last. What a tragedy.

Back on dry land...

And back to the car to do a little more driving.... !

We found ourselves back in Wakiki for dinner on the beach again. I love dinner on the beach! Here I had my first lava drink... mmm! Best thing I remember ever tasting in my life!

We walked around the city for a while just window shopping. We debated buying a hawaiian shirt for my hubby (still not sure he would wear it anywhere) but never found one we really loved. On our way around town we found a little china town between some big buildings. I don't know why I enjoy shopping in areas like this so much but I do. We found our first christmas ornament here (a big deal in the Crockett family :) it's cute). Again, we found good drinks and sat to drink them as performers sang on stage. The music was great! Another fun night on the town! The city had so many fun things to see! As we walked back to our hotel we found a statue of a metal man. I jumped as we walked past! He startled me as he moved slowly and made a honking noise. I didn't think he was real! Artists lined the streets and painted scenes of the ocean. Blue men performed dances as we walked past. People played the ukulele to some of my favorite songs ever along the way, which ended the night perfectly!
